About Us

From our roots in craftsmanship to our focus on Passive House and high-performance homes, we build with purpose, precision, and long-term value in mind.
Our Building Philosophy
We believe the homes we build should do more than just shelter — they should support health, efficiency, and long-term resilience. Every project we take on is designed and constructed with careful attention to energy performance, indoor air quality, and durability. We use the latest in building science and Passive House techniques to deliver homes that are not only beautiful, but also measurably better for people and the planet.
Who We Build For
We work with forward-thinking homeowners, architects, and developers who share our vision for high-performance construction. Whether you’re looking to build a certified Passive House, a net-zero-ready residence, or simply want a more efficient and healthier home, we bring the expertise and collaboration to make it happen. Our team is proud to serve clients in Louisville KY and the surrounding region, including Lexington, Cincinnati, and Nashville.
Certifications & Training
We are proud to be a PHIUS Certified Builder, a distinction that demonstrates our deep knowledge of Passive House construction principles. Our team continues to stay ahead of industry best practices through ongoing training in high-performance building techniques, energy modeling, and building code advancements. These credentials ensure we deliver not just promises—but proven performance.
Our Story
Founded in 2011 by Paul Blackwell, Blackwell Built Construction began as a small carpentry business rooted in craftsmanship, trust, and personal service. Over the years, the company expanded from home remodels and additions into full-scale residential and commercial construction. Today, Blackwell Built is entering an exciting new chapter—focused exclusively on building Passive House and high-performance homes that set a new standard for comfort, efficiency, and long-term value. As a PHIUS Certified Builder, Paul brings precision, building science expertise, and a deep commitment to quality to every project. While the methods have evolved, the mission remains the same: to build homes that serve families for generations with integrity, care, and unmatched craftsmanship.
